Frequently asked questions from travelers worldwide

Can I customize the tour itinerary according to my preferences?

Absolutely! All our Sri Lanka tour packages can be 100% tailor-made to suit your travel style, pace, interests, and budget. Whether you want to add an extra safari, relax longer at the beach, or swap destinations, simply let us know and we will design your dream itinerary.

You can get started by filling out our online inquiry form, sending us an email, or messaging us directly via WhatsApp. One of our travel specialists will review your requirements, suggest a detailed itinerary with pricing, and finalize the reservation once you are completely satisfied.

Typically, our packages include private air-conditioned vehicle transport with an experienced English-speaking chauffeur guide, fuel, toll charges, parking fees, and pick-up/drop-off from Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB). Specific entrance tickets and activities can also be bundled based on your preference.

Most nationalities need an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) which costs $50 and is valid for 30 days. We can provide guidance, but you apply independently online. Some nationalities qualify for visa exemptions—check with Sri Lankan immigration.

Flight times vary by origin. From UK: 11-13 hours. From US East Coast: 18-20 hours. From Australia: 8-10 hours. From India: 2-3 hours. We recommend breaking long flights with stopovers if traveling with young children.

Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR). Cards are widely accepted in tourist areas and cities, but carry 15,000-20,000 LKR in cash for smaller places. ATMs are readily available in major towns.

How do I pay for my tour?

We accept secure online payments via major credit/debit cards (Visa, MasterCard), international bank wire transfers, and cash payments upon arrival (as agreed in your booking contract).

Yes. To confirm your hotels and secure your private vehicle/driver, we usually require a reasonable advance deposit (typically 20%–30%) upon itinerary confirmation. The remaining balance can be settled prior to arrival or on your arrival day in Sri Lanka.

We offer flexible cancellation policies. If you cancel well in advance, you will receive a refund minus any unrecoverable booking costs (such as non-refundable hotel deposits or train tickets). Detailed terms for your specific travel dates and high/peak season policies will be clearly provided before booking.

What type of vehicle will be provided during our tour?

We maintain a modern, fully insured, and well-maintained fleet of air-conditioned vehicles:

  • 1–2 Travelers: Comfortable Sedan Cars (e.g., Toyota Prius, Axio)

  • 3–6 Travelers: Spacious Mini-Vans (e.g., Toyota KDH / HiAce)

  • Groups (7+): Luxury Mini-Coaches or Large Buses

All vehicles come with ample luggage space and safety features.

No, you do not need to worry about this. The driver’s accommodation, meals, fuel, and highway tolls are fully taken care of by Lanka Best Trips.

Yes, all our chauffeur-guides are fluent in English, friendly, government-licensed/registered, and have extensive knowledge of Sri Lanka’s history, culture, routes, and hidden gems. We also have multi-lingual guides (German, French, Russian, etc.) available upon advance request.

Do I need a visa to travel to Sri Lanka?

Yes, most foreign nationals require a valid visa or an approved Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arriving in Sri Lanka. You can easily apply online via the official Sri Lankan immigration portal before your flight. Please make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date.

Sri Lanka is a year-round destination! Due to two distinct monsoon systems:

  • South & West Coasts / Hill Country (Bentota, Galle, Mirissa, Kandy, Ella): Best between November and April.

  • East Coast & Cultural Triangle (Pasikudah, Trincomalee, Sigiriya): Best between May and September.

Whenever you plan to visit, there is always a sunny region ready to welcome you.

Yes, Sri Lanka is widely renowned as one of the friendliest and safest destinations in Asia. With our dedicated private driver and 24/7 on-tour customer support, solo travelers and families with children can travel with complete peace of mind.

When visiting Buddhist or Hindu temples (like the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy or ancient ruins in Anuradhapura/Sigiriya), modest attire is required. Shoulders and knees must be covered, and shoes/hats must be removed before entering temple grounds. We recommend carrying a light scarf or sarong.

Tipping is customary and greatly appreciated for good service, although it is at your discretion. A general guideline is tipping hotel bellboys/waiters a small amount, and tipping your chauffeur-guide at the end of the tour based on your satisfaction with their service.
